INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS DATA SCIENCE?
If we define and try to understand what is actually a data science and what’s its job then people define the data science as the fusion of Statistics, programming or coding (Computer Science) and domain knowledge or domain expertise. As you can see in below figure
WHAT EXACTLY DATA SCIENCE IS?
Since it is the fusion of statistics, computer science and domain expertise so from the domain expertise you can guess it is about solving the problem of particular domain or of specific field. Data science helps us in making decisions, acts as a consultant and problem solver. There's a lot more aspects to Data Science, which are in high demand since the last few years, and the demand is expected to rise even higher in future. Companies like Amazon, Tesla and others have been extensively using Data Science to identify the key factors which affect the user experience and product reliability.
IS DATA SCIENCE GOING TO BE DEAD IN THE COMING YEARS?
We cannot say directly that it is going to be dead because as we all know how every day the enormous amount of data is generated from IOT or from social media, so it is incorrect to say that it is going to be dead because if the data is generated every day then, we need data science for handling and taking advantage of that data for particular problem or domain. I have gone through and read many articles of experienced data scientists who are already there and try to understand their perspective on this. And after reading and understanding all of them I understood that first why these questions are coming in people’s mind now, even it started trending in recent years and it is not became matured yet.
Let’s understand why people are afraid that the data science is going to be dead in coming years-
1. People are thinking that it’s just a trend which will be going to end soon.
2. Will Automated AI replace the Data Science jobs?
3. Will data science jobs be there in future?
IS DATA SCIENCE A TREND THAT WILL END SOON?
So many people ask that “is
data science trend going to end in future?” So my answer will be big NO because
as I told you before the rate at which data is generating everyday either from
IOT or from social media we need data science. First, we need to change the
term we use for data science it’s not a trend it’s a concept or a common sense,
if data is there this domain will exist.
WILL AUTOMATED AI REPLACE JOBS?
This is biggest reason why
people are afraid for data science jobs. They think that the Automated AI will
replace data science jobs. It is not completely wrong also if we see there are
many software and tools are there in market which don’t require your
programming or technical background and a normal people also can use like for
example, the tableau is software for data visualization and for using that, it
doesn’t require any programming or technical understanding or background.
So should we think from this example that the automated AI is going to replace data science jobs it is also right till some extent but if we just see on basis of scale so it is helpful and also we can get basic model but it isn’t good for specific or unique problem. Because this tools can help the decision makers or experts in making good decision but it can’t replace the expert specially in solving unique problems.
CONCLUSION
So by looking through various perspectives we get to know that data science is not going to be dead in future or in coming 10 years. we need data science until data will stop getting generated. And it’s not a just a trend but a common sense that data is necessary for making optimal decision especially in business domain. Automated AI can’t replace the expert completely but they can add value to their work and in the future we need data scientist and analyst for dealing with large and enormous amount of data and getting the benefit from it.
